Beach Fun

I thought it would be fun to go play at the beach Sunday evening.  Annabelle started school Monday so I thought one more really summery thing would be great.
We loaded up sand toys, towels, and the girls and headed to the State Park.

Annabelle ran into the water right away!

The girls had fun "digging" a hole.
I didn't get a lot of pictures of Annabelle because she was either in the water or behind me collecting shells.

Ariel could play forever in the sand!

She wanted to be buried, but ended up not liking.  The second time, James had her sit on her knees so she could get up easier.

Sweet Sisters!

How cute is this girlie?

She liked throwing sand the best.  Annabelle's head is proof.

She didn't like her "sticky" hands.  She couldn't figure out why they got sandy even after she rinsed them.

Back in the waves.

Overall, this was a fun thing to do, but I've got my fill of the beach until next year.  We went once in the spring and just played in the sand.  This time the girls wore bathing suits and got wet.  I prefer just playing in the sand - it brushes off much easier.
I brought clothes for the girls to change into in the van.  When they changed, I realized I should have saved all the sand and fill a sand box.  There was so much sand in their suits.  The best part is that I had only vacuumed out the van the week before.
Once we got home, the girls went right into the tubby - except Arianna because she fell asleep on the way home (not sure if this was a good or bad thing).  I washed Annabelle's hair and there was so much sand from Arianna dumping it on her head.  I don't think I even got it all out.
The next day I had to wash Arianna's sheets because they were full of sand since she never got rinsed off.
The beach is pretty and fun, but this is what I prefer
A fun refreshing, clean time at a pool!

Favorite Things Party

Back in April I planned a Favorite Things party!

I passed out these invitations.
I love pink and green, but decided to spice it up with a little bit of yellow.
I really like how it turned out.
Do you know how a Favorite Things Party works?
No, well its tons of fun and not much work to plan.
There are a few variations that you could do and next time I might try something different.
This time I had each person bring 5 of their favorite item (you love a nail polish, bring 5 nail polish bottles) for $6 or less (you can set the price limit at anything you want).
One person starts and talks about their item (if you are lucky Kerri will be at your party and go first!)
Then she will draw 5 names out of a bag and those 5 people will get to get that item.

I had everyone bring a favorite snack (makes planning even easier!)
We had lots of yummy snacks.  I didn't even eat dinner because I knew I would just like to snack.
We had a great time eating and chatting before we got started.

This part is optional, but I was hoping to have a Get To Know you, but with more in depth questions.  Ex:  Tell us why your husband is the perfect one for you.
So each person took a card.  We started with #1 and that person went first.
They answered their question, talked about their item, and then drew names for it.
We went through the numbers until everyone had a turn.

Another optional part was door prizes.  I was planning this party for 6 weeks, so I had lots of time to pick up little fun prizes (cute printed knife, deep conditioner, nail polish/nail file, etc)
Between people talking about their item I would pull a name for a winner.

Here is our table of Favorite Things.

We all had a great time getting together.  I know this is something I will plan again.
I think it might be fun to do a theme Favorite Things Party - favorite kitchen gadget, beauty item, snack.
Also next time I will have everyone talk about their item and then draw names and the person can choose what they want.  I was originally going to do this, but I didn't want one item left that nobody chose.  I realized this probably wouldn't happen, but this time some people got things they weren't interested in.  Not that they were bad things, just not something they use.  I got a Starbuck's card and I don't drink coffee so I traded with someone who got a hot pink nail polish - perfect switch for us.

I hope you are all inspired to plan a party.
Let me know if you want any help planning one for your friends.
I know they will love it and you will have a great time!
